Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
