Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
